6 months. Navel piercings take much longer to heal. If you could change too quickly cause infection or even rejection. My friend has changed after 4 months and finally released. Obviously not exactly everyone, but you really want to take that risk? If you want to change before that, do, back to your piercer.
You must wait until it is completely cured, at least 8 weeks, but could be longer. Is your best chance if you think you are ready to go back to your piercer and approval, they know better than anyone else.
If you get a ring, then it must be changed if it 3 weeks ago. My piercer told me that we must change so quickly, and later because of the ring starts to go somewhere.
Belly button piercing can be 6-9 months time to heal completely and should not be fully healed by them.
